Alternative Testing Scenarios
There is exactly three different infrastructural approaches for testing:
- no testing infrastructure, so called "ad hoc"-testing
- specific test environment, optimized for a specific testing domain
- 3using a general purpose test environment (commercial solution or own development)
The RapidRep Test Suite can be used in all these testing scenarios!
Ad Hoc Testing
This testing approach is mainly used, when test cases are executed and analyzed spontaneously. Planning and control of testing activities is less important.
Specific Test Environment & general Test Environment
Specific and general test environments are used in order to link test cases with requirements and to organize them into test plans. Deviations from expected results are stored as defects.
Interaction between Test Management and Test Execution
In the left part of the figure the components particularly often used in major projects for test management are shown. Initially all requirements wich are to be tested are captured and assigned to a test plan. A test plan contains all test cases which are needed to test a requirement. Test cases are then executed by calling a test script. Results from the test case execution (passed or failed) are reported back to the test plan.
