RapidRep can automate the execution and analysis of test cases which are entered in an external test management system.

Test cases can be treaten by a test management system (TMS) while the creation and maintenance of defects is handled by a defect management system (DMS) which may be different from the the TMS.

The following test management systems are currently supported:

• IBM Rational Quality Manager (DMS)
• HP Quality Center (TMS & DMS )
• IBM ClearQuest Testmanager (TMS & DMS)
• Atlassian JIRA (DMS)
• Mantis Bugtracker (DMS)
• any database fulfilling some properties(TMS & DMS)

It is possible to use HQ Quality Center for the maintenance of test cases, while defects are handled by Mantis Bug Tracker (DMS).

A nother special feature are in-house developed databases that can be used by RapidRep as well as a DMS as a TMS. In order to work, these databases have to fulfill specific properties, e.g. there has to be a dedicated table for test cases which can be indentified with a unique key.

Advantages:

• Test Cases can be treaten as usual, using a system of your choice. RapidRep accesses these test cases without addional effort.
• The users of RapidRep don't have to know anything about the underlying TMS ord DMS. The usage of these is transparent to the user.

Using an external TMS or DMS is optional. They are often used in large, distributed test projects.
