The RapidRep Designer is the central module of RapidRep. Using this Java application all properties are specified, determining content and layout of the final test execution reports.

The result is a so called Reportdefinition, containing the following properties:

• Name of the the Excel Workbook used as template for the report
• List of connections to those data sources containing data to be tested
• List of parameters used by the RapidRep Runner application in order to apply variable content at runtime
• Functions written in a simple but powerful macro language which is mainly used to create SQL statements
• Data Elements specifying the following data:
  • Calculation: SQL statements are created using functions and parameters; the execution returns a data block from the underlying data warehouse
  • Target Range: Location within the MS Excel workbook template, where the calculation result shall be stored; additional layout information may be specified

The RapidRep Designer is used by few users only, knowing SQL and content within datawarehouse databases.

The RapidRep Runner application is a stand alone Java application, which is installed on the desktop of the tesing users.

The simple and intuitive user interface enables users to execute and analyze test cases with hardly any training.
